Over the last four months I have been working as a volunteer at a local nature reserve. This particular reserve is full of beautiful creatures and I am fortunate enough to be out watching them each day. My job is to film and photograph the wildlife around the reserve and report any sightings back to reception.
Here are some of my favourite images that I have captured during my time so far.

Cumbrian Badgers

I have been watching badgers quite regularly at a sett not too far from my house for the last few months. As the nights are now pretty short, I have been able to finally see them while the sun is still up - just. This means that I have managed to get a couple of photographs! I was very pleased as they are the first badger shots I have taken ... hope you like them!

In The Garden

I stayed at my friends house in Kirkoswald, which has an enourmous variety of birds in the garden including Blue tit, Great tit, Long-tailed tit, Coal tit, Bullfinch, Chaffinch, Wren, Nuthatch, Treecreeper, Robin, Blackbird, Dunnock, Greater spotted woodpecker, Jay, House sparrow, Heron and a regular Tawny owl in the night.

I spent my morning photographing these beautiful birds and here are a few snaps I managed to get.

There was also a sneaky visit from a little Bank vole, which was eating the seeds off the floor around the bird table.

Roof Herons

I was sat in my room and I could hear a very strange noise coming from the garden. I looked out of the window to see my cat shaking, staring up at the roof of the house. I glanced in the same direction that he was looking and to my surprise there stood a Grey Heron, staring right at me! I saw this as a good opportunity to get a few snaps and these pictures are the result

Wildlife of Windermere and Wild Goose Chase

Last year, in our second year, for one of our modules we had to create some short wildlife videos. The first one is a short 2 minute video on Barnacle geese and the second is a 5 minute portrait of Windermere.

Starling murmuration

Tonight I visited Gretna Green watch the Starling murmuration. I watched in amazement as the sun set over the motorway. I enjoyed the contrast between a busy motorway and one of the most amazing wildlife spectacles that can be seen in the Autumn.
The shapes that they make in the sky are incredible and apparently there was around 750,000 starlings!

Trip and Cliburn Moss

Been on a trip for the weekend filming and photographing seals, this is a photograph of one of the pups that I managed to capture

Today I went to Cliburn Moss to see what I could find and my friend Cain wanted to try out his new lens.

I was sat by a tree watching this squirrel and a few others and i heard a rustling noise coming towards me.
It was clearly a dog and was sniffing around a lot.
It must have scared this little fox cos it was running and came and stood right in front of me

I was in shock so i only managed to get one picture but I was so happy :)
