Expedition images

Some more images that I have taken during my expedition

Baby toad

Dor Beetle Geotrupes stercorarius

Green Tiger Beetle Cicindela campestris

Morning hide times

This morning I sat patiently in our hide for a while

and got some shots of a heron :)

These Herons made me feel like I wasn't actually being that patient at all as they showed me the real meaning. They could stand in the same position for ages just watching their prey and slowly moving towards where they wanted to get. They moved so slowly and stood for so long that when we fast forwarded a video that Cain made of a hunting Heron, we noticed the tide moved quite a bit and the light got significantly darker.

The Midnight Marten

Yay, I finally saw the Pine Marten last night. It appeared just outside the window at about quarter to midnight. It was happily munching away at the bourbons and cookies that we'd left out. Its tail was really fluffy. These are some of the pictures I managed to get but there's some objects in the reflection like a book, but hopefully i'll be able to capture some better images in the next couple of days.

First few days and first few snaps

I have decided to start a new blog for my wildlife snaps and videos.

I am currently on an expedition in Ardnamurchan in Scotland and it is beautiful! Here me and 3 other students are photographing and filming the wildlife that Scotland has to offer. I'm mainly focussing on macro photography because I think that some of the small critters are often overlooked, and they're pretty amazing! Here are a few of the snaps that I have taken so far.

Common Shiny Woodlouse Oniscus asellus

Weevil on Cain's bag

Slow worm Anguis fragilis

Drinker Moth Philudoria potatoria

Crab

(Tuesday 19th April)
We went for a walk down to the beach. We saw our first otter of the expedition but unfortunately I didn't get any snaps! However, here's some beasties that I did see on the way :)

Bumblebee

Moth

Common Lizard Lacerta vivipara

Tonight we are sitting and hoping for the Pine Marten to visit again, i've put out some chocolate bourbons and out cookies so fingers crossed!
